Insidious: Chapter 3, a supernatural horror film, premiered in 2015, marking Leigh Whannell's directorial debut. Serving as a prequel to the first two installments, it is the third movie in the Insidious franchise. The movie stars Stefanie Scott and Dermot Mulroney, with Angus Sampson, Whannell, and Lin Shaye reprising their roles from previous films. In September 2013, the third installment was announced, with Whannell as the writer and Jason Blum and Oren Peli as the producers. Screen Rant disclosed that the film would not center on the Lambert family and would not be connected to the final scene of the second movie. Principal photography started on July 9, 2014, in Los Angeles, with a 29-day shoot scheduled, and wrapped on August 18, 2014. The movie earned mixed reviews from critics but made $113 million against an $11 million budget. A sequel, Insidious: The Last Key, hit theaters in January 2018. As of now, there is no news on whether or not there will be a fifth installment.

Insidious: Chapter 3 Plot:

The prequel to the original Insidious movie, "Insidious: Chapter 3" follows the story of Quinn Brenner, a teenage girl who seeks the help of retired demonologist Elise Rainier to contact her deceased mother. However, Elise senses a malevolent force and warns Quinn not to try to contact her mother again. After Quinn is hit by a car and both her legs are broken, she begins to experience disturbing paranormal activity in her home, including visions of a dark spirit known as the "Man Who Can't Breathe". Despite Elise's reluctance to help due to her own past experiences, she is eventually convinced to assist Quinn with the help of internet-famous demonologists, Specs and Tucker.

During their investigation, Quinn becomes briefly possessed and attacks Sean, Specs, and Tucker, leading Sean to realize that the duo are frauds. Elise enters the spiritual world, called the "Further," to confront the dark spirit and discovers that it is actually her deceased husband, Jack, in disguise. She manages to save Quinn and defeat the spirit, but not before being attacked herself. Elise later encourages Quinn to defeat the spirit on her own, and with the help of her deceased mother's spirit, Quinn succeeds.

In the end, Elise forms a partnership with Specs and Tucker, and they agree to continue their work together. However, in a chilling twist, Elise's happy return home is disrupted by the appearance of a demon with a red face behind her in her bedroom.
