Annabelle: Creation is a 2017 American supernatural horror film that serves as a prequel to 2014's Annabelle and the fourth installment in the Conjuring Universe franchise. It was directed by David F. Sandberg, written by Gary Dauberman, and produced by Peter Safran and James Wan.

The film stars Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Anthony LaPaglia, and Miranda Otto, and tells the origin story of the possessed Annabelle doll. The movie began production in June 2016 and concluded in August of the same year in Los Angeles, California.

Annabelle: Creation premiered at the LA Film Festival on June 19, 2017, and was released theatrically in the United States on August 11, 2017. The movie grossed over $306 million worldwide and received critical acclaim for its atmosphere, acting, and Sandberg's direction, with critics noting it as a significant improvement over its predecessor.

A sequel, Annabelle Comes Home, was released on June 26, 2019, further expanding the Conjuring Universe franchise.

Annabelle: Creation Plot:

This is the story of Samuel Mullins and his wife Esther, who are very sad because their seven-year-old daughter, Annabelle, died in an accident. Twelve years later, they take in Sister Charlotte and six orphaned girls. Janice, a disabled orphan, goes into Annabelle's old bedroom and finds a doll. But this releases a demon that starts to scare the girls. The demon looks like Annabelle and tries to take Janice's soul. Janice is left paralyzed and the demon starts to possess her. It kills Samuel and attacks Sister Charlotte. Linda, Janice's friend, manages to lock the demon and the doll in the closet. The police arrive and take away the doll as evidence. Janice, now called Annabelle, is adopted by the Higgins family. Twelve years later, Annabelle joins a Satanic cult and kills her adoptive parents.
