Siccin 5 (2018)
Sijjin is a Turkish horror film franchise that made its debut in 2014. The original title SİCCÎN, which is a Kurmanji Kurdish word, means 'violent' or 'vehement'. Director Alper Mestçi returned to his horror roots with this franchise after previously creating a pair of global box office hits. All the films are produced by Muhtesem Tözüm and released under his Muhtesem Film studio. Since their release, each of the films has gained worldwide recognition and have been seen as a new wave of Turkish horror genre.
The name of this franchise is derived from the Arabic word Sijjin (سِجِّين), which means either a book that lists the names of the damned or a prison located in the depths of hell. Its origins remain unknown, but it is mentioned in the Qur'an in Surah 83:7–9. A similar word, Sijill, appears in 21:104 and is often translated as 'scroll'.
