Annihilation 2018 Plot:

Lena, a former soldier and professor, is being interrogated by the U.S. government regarding her expedition to a strange and mutated area called "the Shimmer." Lena's husband, Kane, was the only other person to return from a previous expedition, but he is in a peculiar state and unable to explain what happened to him. Lena and her team enter the Shimmer, where they face dangerous mutated creatures and plants, and some team members become paranoid and violent. Lena discovers that the Shimmer has merged with her DNA, and eventually finds a videotape at the center of the Shimmer, where she learns about her husband's suicide and doppelganger. She also encounters a humanoid creature that copies her actions and thinking. Lena tricks the creature into mimicking her suicidal tendencies before killing it with a grenade. The Shimmer disappears, and Kane's condition improves, but Lena and Kane's identities are left uncertain.
