The film was shot in various locations including Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema utilizing 70 mm and IMAX formats.
Originally scheduled for release on July 17, 2020 by Warner Bros. Pictures in IMAX, 35 mm, and 70 mm formats, Tenet has since been released on September 3, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
