Sinister 2 is a supernatural horror film that was released in 2015. Directed by Ciaran Foy and written by Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, it serves as a sequel to the 2012 film Sinister. The movie stars James Ransone, who reprises his role from the first film, and Shannyn Sossamon as a mother whose sons are haunted by ghostly children taken by Bughuul at their rural farmhouse. Robert Daniel Sloan, Dartanian Sloan, Lea Coco, and Tate Ellington also feature in supporting roles.

The film was distributed in the United States on August 21, 2015, by Gramercy Pictures and Focus Features. Although it grossed over $54 million against its reported budget of $10 million, Sinister 2 received negative reviews from critics. They criticized the film's use of horror clichés and jump scares, as well as its story, while Ransone's performance was praised.

Sinister 2 2015 Plot:

The movie opens with nine-year-old Dylan Collins having a nightmare about a family being burned alive in a cornfield. Dylan, his twin brother Zach, and their mother Courtney are squatting in a rural farmhouse to hide from an abusive husband/father. Dylan is visited by ghostly children led by Milo who forces him to watch "home movies" of families being murdered in gruesome ways. James Ransone, a former sheriff's deputy turned private investigator, arrives at the farmhouse to destroy it but realizes Courtney and her sons are living there. He tells Courtney he is investigating a murder at the church on the property. Clint, Courtney's husband, shows up to take the boys, but the deputy threatens him, warning that they need a court order.

The Deputy reveals that he was once a suspect in the murder of the Oswalts, but was cleared of the charge, and he was soon fired for releasing classified information. He advises Courtney not to leave the farmhouse, knowing that each murder connected to Bughuul happened after the families fled the homes where the previous murders occurred. The Deputy develops a romance with Courtney and meets with a professor who has a ham radio belonging to Professor Jonas from the previous film. The professor plays a recording of a young girl's voice screaming in Norwegian. The Deputy deduces that Bughuul targets the children of murdered families and orders the professor to destroy the ham radio.

Zach becomes jealous of the ghostly children and insists on having their attention. They show Dylan the video of the church murders, and the ghost children abandon Dylan, saying he's not the real target. Clint arrives with a court order, and Courtney is forced to leave with the boys. Later, the family is drugged and hung on scarecrow posts with sacks over their heads in the cornfield. Possessed Zach lights Clint on fire and films him burning to death. The Deputy hits Zach with his car before he can kill Dylan. Zach survives and pursues them, cutting off half of the Deputy's left-hand fingers with a sickle.

The ghost children try to help Zach find his family, but Bughuul appears, causing Zach to decay and burst into flames. The house catches fire, and the Deputy, Courtney, and Dylan escape. Later, the Deputy finds the ham radio in his motel room, and as a young girl's voice repeatedly whispers "Deputy," Bughuul appears, and the screen goes black. Sinister 2 received negative reviews for its horror cliches and jump scares but grossed over $54 million against its reported budget of $10 million.
